Hmm, I'm feeling this one here. Kween is cute and can sing her tail off. The song is soft rockish and I feel that if she had recorded this strictly in the english language it would still have been a hit. Instead, she put her native tongue and added some pidgin to the lyrics. She repped naija in in an authentic way on this song and I'm sure you guys will love this one or not?

Apparently, this is my 2nd post this week from a female singer. Fragrance has a good voice and this song is very Nigerian (for lack of a better word). It has an oldskool (naija old skool) feel to it. Looking forward to more and better stuff from 'ol girl soon.

Hmm, competition is bound to appear when you are doing good. It looks like 9ice has found himself some fierce competition. Dude sounds too much like the Alapo meji label owner; the voice, delivery and yoruba mastery are damn near the same. Let's see if he lasts and if the people accept him.

Igho Interview on Channel O

Igho, a Nigerian rapper based in the UK South Africa was nominated for a Channel O award for best new comer. I don't know a thing about Igho, but I'll research him and see what his music is saying.

**UPDATE** Just found Igho's song '9ja boy'. Not bad at all, his hook could have been better (but who am I to talk, I can't even spit 2 barz successfuly), but he can rap.

Naija Rappers who live outside Naija

I have a list of questions you should ask yourself and answer before you start recording and putting music out to a fan base. 

Obviously, you know that you have the talent i.e you can rap and you can deliver lines. Now before you start putting in a lot of time in the studio you need to ask yourself a few questions:

1. Am I good enough to take this up as a career?

It may take you a few years of battling and recording in your basement before you can answer this question truthfully. Regardless what your answer is, you definitely want to have a solid plan B, but if your answer is 'Yes' then you want to ask yourself another question:

    2.    Am I better off building a career here (wherever you are outside of Naija) or creating music strictly for naija crowd?

There is no in between, you need to answer 'Yes' or 'No'. If you don't decide at this point, you may have a harder time switching up after your style has been ingrained in people's minds especially with how fast the naija music industry is growing and forming. If your answer is 'yes I am better of making music for naija', continue reading, if not go to nahright for inspiration.

Don't confuse this with honing your skillz and competing with local acts (wherever you are outside naija) while coming up, it only improves your delivery and skill.

Video: Ibiyemi - Can you love me

She has a big voice, like Toni Braxton but just a little bigger. This is her first song/single; and its not bad. The video was obviously shot in naija and I like how she pulled all the females in the video to sing the 'Can you love me' hook.

As Naeto will say, Yes Boss! The video was shot in New York a week ago. Hmmm I see the first lady of Storm, Sasha P makes a cameo in this video along with TNT (a new Nigerian rap group out of Baltimore MD). I am not sure when the finished product will be out, but enjoy the song while you wait..

DIPP ft M.I - Dangerous

Michael Jackson was obviously a big influence in Dipp's life, this dude busted damn near all of his moves in the video. I am impressed with the video; the way they presented the drummer and how the dancers appeared from nowhere right at the 1:22 mark. It's obvious that P. Square has some competition now both in music and dancing style.

COLDFLAMES - Hell In My Skin

First male Naija Soft Rock artist - that I know of. A good attempt, you might find yourself re-singing the hook for hours (in your mind). I have not listened hard enough to get the gist of the song, but from what I heard so far it definitely has to do with a female. I am not sure if this COLDFLAMES4LIFE is his official stage name, but I will keep you posted if it changes. What do you guys think?
