I called T-Mobile one day last year to get an upgrade on my plan. Out of curiosity, I asked the rep if there was a way I could make international calls from my phone. There was a way, she provided it and I gladly accepted.
I called Nigeria, that’s where I’m from, and spoke like I was using a phone card. As I spoke I anticipated the message “You have 2 more minutes for this call”, it never came. So I kept talking until I and the listener/talker in Nigeria finished catching up on old times. I would repeat the act 3 times during the course of that month.
Fast Forward 5 weeks later. A heavy envelope with a T-mobile label on it arrived in the mail. $234; I knew the amount on the bill before I opened it. Ridiculous, I swore that it would never happen again, but it was already a bad habit. Just like smoking, you know its bad for you, but you use it to relieve stress and for recreation, but that’s a whole other story on its own.
Well, 2 months passed and T-mobile was milking my account and making a killer profit from my business. Invariably, I quit the habit out of necessity. Money was getting lean and text threats were being sent from T-mobile reminding me of my due date. I paid the bills and changed back to using phone cards. I did some research on some phone cards and I found 2.
Days after I heard about Peezy, my older sister assured me that there is a $10 phone that will allow you to talk for 8 hours when you call Nigeria. I laughed so hard inside, and uttered these words to myself “Why is she lying?” Well, it turns out that she was not lying, I used it and it lasted for 8 hours. I called people in Gidi and Jand more than I called people in Yankee that whole week. It was Awesome. You can get that card at www.caribone.com, its called Blue Nile.
Check www.jajah.com out too, they seem somewhat promising.
