Watching this video gives you some insight on who Asa is; she is simple and filled with talent. My first exposure to Asa was via BellaNaija and I concluded without any evidence that she was a Nigerian Eryka Badu wannabe (how ignorant of me). I was wrong. Watch the way she records as she expresses her words in her body language; it feels and looks like this is extremely simple for her, like she was born to do this. Watch the video and see for yourself. Let me know your thoughts on Asa. In addition, she explains where she was coming from when she wrote some of the songs on her album like 'Jailer'...
I don't even know what to type about the video. Nayo gives you a glimpse of who she is and you get to enjoy her personality for a few minutes. She shows you her passion for the music and some of her preparations for what seems to be her album release concert (but I might be wrong). Enjoy and buy the album it's a classic!
She needs to come and perform in the states.
"A documentary with Nayo and her special fans who have been
supportive throughout her journey. With more to come, this is only the
beginning."
Dbanj Released his album this past weekend as previously mentioned here
and there are several photos all over the internet covering the even. See some pictures below. Apparently, the current and ex-Governors of Lagos state were in attendance as well, a very good look for D'banj. More pictures can be seen at werunthings
This song has been out for a while and has been floating all over the place, but I just heard it a few days ago. Nice collabo! This is one of the songs I was referring to here

'u the only one that I let meet mammi\when moma said this music stuvs wasn't bunz\ you felt opposite that made me feel confident'
I don't even know who we should call "the blackest of them all", Mode Nine or Wande Coal...Who do you think? It looks like the entertainers in Gidi are caking heavy now.
African Kings are a group out of Houston, TX according to their Myspace page. Honestly, the first time I heard their music, I was convicted of their wackness. I actually listened halfway to their last mixtape because I was forced to; I felt like they were unserious with the music and it was just a hobby for them. Well, I was right and it looks like they are taking it more serios now, because this "We are AKS" joint is a worthy track. African Kings may have a shot if they continue to make more songs of this caliber or better on a consistent basis.
3 words; Proto is nice. At least on this joint. He has a basic and friendly flow, similar to Maino of the 'Hi Hater' fame, but his content has some direction. This may be a new artist on Trybe Records, and he is Nigerian.
LOL! a lot of the freestylists are hot garbage aka wack!..As in, I am positive that there are better and more sophisticated emcees in Nigeria, but may be the gratification of winning this competition was not motivating enough for the top notch emcees. I will try to post video of the session as soon as I get my hands on it. Mode Nine and Ikechukwu were some of the judges on the panel... Leslie 'Lee' Kasumba hosted the show!
This song has been out since December of '07 and it appears that people slept on it. Sasha P being the 1st lady of Storm Nigeria, did a great job on the song as I stated before, her 'S' was really heavy... and Naeto C laced the hook with the T-Pain Mic...Check the video and let me know your thoughts...
'Iwo no o tie try to/'cause you have a benz/ owa ro pe o fly to/*hiss* Sash P first Lady/it's going to take a whole lot more to drive me crazy '
I just received an insight; Banky W brings value to Nigerian music, he has the potential to grow a fan base for Nigerian R&B artists. I mean listen to this song, the hook is not off the wall, but this might be the beginning of great collaborations between Nigerian rappers and R&B crooners. O sorry, Naeto and Ikechukwu already collaborated with Wande Coal on 'Kini Big Deal' and 'Like You', but this song reminds me of the classic rapper and r&b collaboration format from back in the days...Enjoy and let me know your thoughts...
